Cockington Village on the English Riviera
'Chocolate box' pretty

Cockington Village, near Torquay, South Devon.

The Perfect Holiday Location....

Think of Devon and you think of thatched villages, cream teas, coast and countryside. Here in Cockington Village we have it all.

Peacefully positioned on the outskirts of Cockington village, we are surrounded by a former Manorial estate and now a 450 acre Country Park. Whilst Cockington is rural, it is not isolated as there’s our village pub; The Drum Inn, The Seven Dials cafe, the Manor House (Cockington Court) with craft centre, ancient church, a visitor centre and miles of walking/bike trails.

Just a half mile along a country lane or public footpath takes you to the sea at Livermead and the splendour of the English Riviera with it’s popular beaches, attractions, cafes, bars and restaurants. Take time to explore the three towns of the English Riviera; Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. Enjoy a boat trip, wildlife cruise or fishing trip. Feeling more adventurous? How about exploring the coastline on a sea kayaking tour? With so much to see and do in this area, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Enjoy a steam train journey with fantastic coastal views from Paignton to Dartmouth. Watch a show in one of our four local theatres including The Princess Theatre and how about a trip to award winning Paignton Zoo?

A little further afield there are many National Trust properties to explore such as Greenway, the holiday home of Agatha Christie and stunning Coleton Fishacre, the former home of the Singer (sewing machines) family.  Close by is stunning Dartmoor with it’s Dartmoor ponies & amazing views, the charming South Hams region and spectacular coastline. The University city of Exeter is less than an hour by road, bus or train and offers excellent shopping, a Cathedral, museum and pretty quayside for a spot of lunch. The Coastal city of Plymouth is also very accessible with excellent shopping and sightseeing along the historical Plymouth Hoe, and why not take a tour around the Plymouth Gin factory? Day trips to Cornwall including the Eden project (approx 1.5h) are also perfectly feasible.

Read our Blogs full of recommendations of things to do and places to see. We also keep a box of leaflets in each cottage for you to browse and help plan your stay. We live in neighbouring Lanscombe House and are usually on hand should you need us.
